The purpose of the Service Cord Program is to recognize students who engage in a high level of service by earning the opportunity to wear a service cord during senior graduation.
Students are required to obtain a minimum of 25 points over the course of their two-year enrollment in the nursing program at Georgia Gwinnett College to earn a service cord.
In order to obtain a second cord, a minimum of 50 points are required.
Ways to Earn Points:
Attend a general membership meeting - 1 pt
Donate blood/platelets/plasma/bone marrow - 2 pts
Volunteer for a community health event - 4 pts
Assist with GGBANS activities - 3 pts
Donate to a fundraiser - 1 pt
Be an involved and successful student mentor - 3 pts
Attend multi-day event/convention (GANS, NSNA mid-year, NSNA annual, COSL) - 15 pts
Volunteer for Trauma Day - 1/2 pt per hour
Slate as a delegate for national or state office - 15 pts
Earn a position in national or state office - 15 pts
Be a campaign manager - 2 pts
Serve on a student nursing board (GGBANS, NSG, GANS) - 15 pts
